     Rachel Downing was born on 23 February 1789 in Mason County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of John Downing and Susannah Ann Ellis. Rachel Downing married an unknown person on 7 February 1809 in Mason County. They had 1 child. after her death he married Mary Polly Downing the daughter of Timothy. He later married a 3rd time to Caroline Brown. She died circa 1812 in Mason County.

Elizabeth Frances Downing

b. 11 January 1792, d. 13 August 1855
     Elizabeth Frances Downing was born on 11 January 1792 in Mason County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of John Downing and Susannah Ann Ellis. Elizabeth Frances Downing married an unknown person on 21 October 1834 in Mason County. He was the widower of her sister Mary. He died 26 April 1865 in Brown Co. Ohio. She died on 13 August 1855 in Clinton County, Ohio, at age 63. Unknown GEDCOM info. Elizabeth married the widower of her sister Mary in Brown Co Ohio. They had no children. In the 1850 census, she and Thomas are in the household of Milford McConnell in Union Twp Brown County Ohio.

Reason J. Downing

     Reason J. Downing was born on 18 November 1793 in Mason County, Kentucky. He was the son of John Downing and Susannah Ann Ellis. Reason J. Downing married an unknown person on 18 February 1817 in Shelby County, Kentucky. He was buried in September 1849 in the Downing family cemetery, Mason County, Kentucky. This cemetery is located on Slack Pike out of Old Washington. He died on 9 September 1849 in Washington, Mason County, Kentucky, at age 55. He was buried on the family farm on Slack Pike in Mason Co. The grave is marked. 28 October 1819 Reason Downing was left the major portion of his father's estate, and Reason and his brother Joseph were named executors of their father's will. 28 August 1849 Reason made his will in Mason Co KY in which he named: Seven sons; John, Isaac E., James, William, Reason, Joseph and Thomas; daughters Nancy Slack, Linda/Lindy Ann Downing, Eliza Jane Post, and Elizabeth Frances Downing; and slaves Martha, Tabiatha, and Queen Ann. Wife Elizabeth and sons John, Isaac E., and James were named executors. Signed and sealed ' Reason Downing ' witnesses were Thomas Downing and Charles Downing; proved in Oct 1849 court. Note: Reason's son Thomas was too young to have been a witness, so the witnesses are believed to be the sons of Timothy. The following is from HISTORY OF KENTUCKY by Johnson Vol 3 He was a farmer and stockman and achieved much success in these lines. He gave his support to the Democrat party and was a Baptist in his religious conviction. He married Miss Elizabeth Ellis, who was a woman, strong in character and constitution, who lived to the great old age of ninty-three or ninty-four years, and died several years after the Civil War, having witnessed many of the most stirring incidents of American history. His wife shared his religious convictions belonging to the Baptist church.

Darius Downing married Anna Eliza Gordon, daughter of Peter Gordon and Clarissa Berry Loyd, on 12 January 1869 in Peter Gordon's residence, Mason County, Kentucky.1 Darius Downing died on 22 February 1888 at age 63.1 He was buried in Maysville Cemetery, Maysville, Mason County, Kentucky.2

     James Downing was born on 16 February 1749/50 in Williamsport, Washington County, Maryland. He was the son of James Downing and Susannah (?) James Downing married Sara Laughlin, daughter of Adam Laughlin and Margaret (?), in December 1774 in Redstone Old Fort, Brownsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. James Downing died on 22 September 1822 in Sandy Twp, Stark County, Ohio, at age 72. Buried in the Downing Cemetary, Magnolia, Ohio. James could have been born in Williamsport, Washington Co. MD when the family was living at Conococheague Manor. He died at Magnolia, Sandy Two, Stark Co. Ohio. Sara Laughlin was the daughter of Adam & Margaret Laughlin. She was born in Pleasant Grove, Little Britian Twp. Lancaster Co PA. She died 16 January 1829 at Stark Co Ohio They lived in Washington County PA during the Rev War and he served under his brother Timothy in the militia. A record of his service in the 3rd Battalion, 7th Company, Washington County Militia during 1782-1783 is recorded in PA Archives ( A, 6II, p117 ) He also served as an Indian scout with General Anthony Wayne. His encounter with Indians in 1793 is recorded in Stark County Ohio histories. On 10-7-1777 he is on a list of soldiers who took the oath of allegiance to the Commonwealth of Virginia in Ohio County. He was a Presbyterian and in 1779 signed a petition from the Buffalo and Cross Creek Congregations of Washington County PA. His land on Cross Creek, Hopewell Twp was near that of brothers John and Timothy. The land ' Poland ' was based on his warrant of 11-17-1788. It was surveyed 10-30-1800 after he sold it on 7-26-1790.
