These maps are an experimental feature of this website, making
use of the recently-released Google Maps API. This allows
a map to be drawn and features marked on it, with options for panning
and zooming, switching to satellite view, and using the markers
to access other pages in the site.
When viewing the maps using the links below, some of the features
available are:
- Use the arrows to pan the view, or click and drag anywhere on
the map to move it.
- Use the +/- buttons to zoom in and out.
- Switch back and forth between Map and Satellite
views.
- Click on a marker to see a descriptive balloon.
- Click on a link within a balloon to go to the genealogy data
for that person.
Note that many rural areas are not covered by hi-res aerial photography,
so the satellite views in those areas are pretty fuzzy. In the links
below, Monmouth Co. has the best detailed satellite views. Also
note that you must be running a fairly recent browser version for
this to work correctly. IE 5.5 and above, Firefox, and the latest
Netscape browsers should work.
