Ayres LeForgee was in military service as a member of George Matthews company, Kentucky Mounted Volunteers, in the War of 1812 in 1812 in Fleming County, Kentucky. He was present at the "Battle of the Thames" near Chatham, Ont., Canada, where the British were defeated and the Indian leader Tecumseh was killed.2 He married Dorinda Cassidy on 26 May 1819 in Fleming County.1 Ayres LeForgee died on 20 May 1881 in Fleming County at age 85.1
