Lewis Gordon, my 3rd-great-grandfather, moved from western New Jersey to Kentucky in the late 1790s and established the Gordon line of which I am a direct male descendant. He was probably the first ancestor whose name I heard, but it took a considerable amount of research before he emerged from being only a shadowy family legend to someone with a known family and history.
There are still many blank years and unanswered questions that I hope to resolve sometime in the future.
