This gallery contains some of the unidentified photos in our collection. These date mostly from the late 1800s, and from
the families that lived in Kentucky.

This man and the woman in the next picture are probably a couple, but their identity is unknown. The photographer, "H.A. Steele, Jackson", has been identified as a photographer working out of Jackson, Michigan. That adds another mystery, as we have no known family connections in Michigan from that era.
-
See the previous picture for an explanation and what is known about these pictures.
-
The one on the left is Grace Quaintance, but the other two are not identified.
-
This is believed to be of William Perrine Smoot and Samuel N. Smoot and their wives, Mary Keziah Gordon and Clara Ella Gordon. Which is which is not quite so certain, but William P. Smoot and Mary K. are probably the couple on the right.
-
An unidentified old house. Could this be the one occupied at one time by Lewis Gordon?
-
This is assumed to be Peter and Clarissa. However, Peter might look a bit older than was possible since he died at just 52.
-
Thought to be a Smoot.
-
No ideas on this one.
-
Or it could be anyone...
-
Taken from W.L. Gordon's old slides, but unknown identity.
-
Thought to be on the Gordon side, but no idea who.
-
From W.L. Gordon's slides, this is identified as a Smoot, but it's not known which of the many Smoots it might be. This might not have been a "live" photo, as it looks more like a photo of an older studio picture.
